Previously, almost every drug, ointment, and serum were tried and proven on cells and organisms developed in labs, but times have changed, and more medication studies have been or are being performed on humans than most people care to admit. Serial guinea pigging is becoming a more appealing "career option" for the rock broke side of society, thanks to the fact that a terrifyingly significant percentage of the world's population is willing to go to alarming lengths for fame and fortune, and medical companies offering sizable sums to tweak with our bodies. While I am completely opposed to the concept, it is obvious why more and more individuals are getting on the lab rat craze, as pros can earn upwards of $ 50,000 per year, not to mention free food, lodging, and whatever else it is takes to entice a guinea pig.
With all of this going on in the real world, films about absurd acts of science performed on innocent victims or academics ready to risk the rashness of their research cuts a little too close to the bone, making for an unsettling experience. So, in order to play to this theme today, we’ll be diving into the medically immoral world of the horror genre.
